Village School's Innovation Studio
A place to create, design, reinvent, make, and learn.
This site will be used to share resources around Village School's implementation of maker movement concepts, inquiry based learning, and tinkering resources.
The Innovation Studio, formerly the technology lab, is a multi-functional space designed to enhance the student learning experience. Half of the space is set up as a traditional lab, with a SMART board and 13 computers. The other half as a space for innovation, making, and tinkering. This Innovation Studio is designed to support project-based learning within our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) curriculum and includes 3D printers, ipads, and various robotics kits, in addition to many other tools, books, and resources. Our goal for the space is to give our students “maker skills” - such as design thinking, problem solving, and programming skills - by providing real projects and authentic learning experiences while leveraging their imaginations and creativity.
In addition to weekly classes and club offerings, students are encouraged to visit the Innovation Studio during office hours and occasional recess periods to work on their Science STEAM projects, explore the materials, or learn about 3D printing.
